Maria is a Certified Marriage and Family Therapist of the Hong Kong Marriage and Family Association, and a registered social worker in Hong Kong. She holds a Master of Art in Social Work (Family-centered practice and family therapy) degree and a diploma in Social Work from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Other than a formal training in family therapy, including Bowen theory, structural family approach, marital counselling, etc. that offers a relational lens in assessing a problem, Maria has also received training in Emotion Focused Therapy, child-centred play therapy, neuroscience-related knowledge and skills, etc.

Maria prefers an integrative approach to counselling, going along at the client’s side, and at the client’s pace. Maria believes every person in any stage of life has an ability to change for growth, a counsellor is to join hands with our clients to uncover their own resources and mobilize their own strength.

She would explore with clients their perceived problems and agree with them relevant change strategies. Before diving in as a full time social worker and counsellor, Maria has worked in the corporate field as a Brand Marketing Communications professional for Asia Pacific for 20 years. She also holds a Bachelor degree of Communications (Film) in Hong Kong Baptist University.
